Udruga Pobjede
Udruga Pobjede — meaning "Victory Association" — was founded in 2009 with a mission to contribute to the dignified existence of all living beings, according to their needs and nature. Based in Osijek, Croatia, they manage one of the country's most remarkable animal welfare success stories.
The shelter's journey was not an easy one. Not long ago, it was in a dire situation — a small group of volunteers who first walked through its doors knew they had to come back and save the animals from the terrible conditions they found them in. Through years of relentless work, Udruga Pobjede transformed that shelter into the best and most organized animal shelter in Croatia — with the highest number of dogs rehomed in a single year.
Today, the shelter is a fully registered facility with 15 permanent employees and 88 regular volunteers, open 365 days a year for visitors — the only shelter of its kind in Croatia.
Their work includes rescuing and caring for stray dogs, microchipping, veterinary treatment, vaccination, adoption campaigns, and community education. They are the only shelter in Croatia open every day for visits and walks, and their dedication to finding every dog a loving home has made them a model for animal welfare organizations across the country.
The Histrion Foundation is proud to stand behind Udruga Pobjede — an organization that proves every day that things can change, one animal at a time.
A New Chapter: A veterinary clinic that reaches beyond the shelter
care —ringing vaccinations, sterilizations, and emergency treatment directly to the places hat need them most.
On an 8,000 m² plot of land adjacent to the existing shelter, Udruga Pobjede is working toward something truly ambitious — a new veterinary clinic built around two life-saving missions:
A stationary clinic to serve the shelter's 180 dogs and, in time, outside patients — creating a sustainable source of self-financing that strengthens the organization's long-term independence.
A mobile veterinary unit that will travel to rural and remote communities where animals currently have no access to proper veterinary care — bringing vaccinations, sterilizations, and emergency treatment directly to the places that need them most.
